About IMSE
Elizabeth Wade, PharmD, CPPS, FASHP
Founder · Certified Professional in Patient Safety · Fellow, ASHP
Dr. Elizabeth Wade most recently served as Director of Medication Compliance, Quality, and Safety at Dartmouth Health. There she built a new medication safety program and governance structure for medication processes, policies and change control across 8 hospitals, more than 250 medical offices, and retail, specialty and mail order pharmacies in New Hampshire and Vermont.
Before Dartmouth Health, she was Patient Safety Officer for Amazon Pharmacy. She led patient safety strategy for error risk, safety culture and new product development across all U.S. retail and mail order pharmacy operations. As Medication Safety Officer at Concord Hospital, the first in New Hampshire, she established the medication safety program and started the health system's Just Culture movement. She began her career as Medication Safety Officer for Adult Med/Surg at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. There she led the Lean design and move of 3 pharmacies to a new clinical tower and represented the pharmacy division during a system-wide EHR implementation.
Elizabeth works closely with the Institute for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP) on guideline development and has served as faculty for the ISMP Medication Safety Intensive. At ASHP she chairs the Section of Inpatient Care Practitioners. She previously served on the Section Advisory Group on Medication Safety and the Council on Pharmacy Practice, and as New Hampshire delegate to the House of Delegates. She is faculty for the ASHP/ISMP medication safety certificate program and the ASHP well-being and resilience certificate program.
She has also served on the board of directors of the Patient Access Network Foundation, a charity that provides copay assistance and education and advocates for patient access to medications.
